Motorcyclist dies, wife breaks leg in collision with car


KAJANG: A motorcyclist died while his wife suffered a broken leg following a collision with a car along the Silk Highway on Saturday (Sept 26).


Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the incident occurred at around 12.15am on Saturday.

“The motorcyclist was travelling from Seri Kembangan to Balakong while the driver of the car was driving from Kelana Jaya to Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

“Near KM2.2, the motorcyclist is said to have changed lanes from the right lane to the middle lane and was hit by the car,” he said in a statement Sunday (Sept 27).

He said the motorcyclist suffered head injuries while his wife suffered a broken leg and both were rushed to the Serdang Hospital.

“We received word from the hospital at around 5.40pm Saturday that the 27-year-old rider succumbed to his injuries.

“The 23-year-old male driver of the car was detained for further investigations,” he said, adding that both vehicles were brought to the Kajang police headquarters for a Puspakom inspection

ACP Mohd Zaid said while the police did not detect any sign that the driver was intoxicated, blood samples were taken for further verification.

A message had been circulated on social media and WhatsApp claiming that an accident had occurred along the Silk Highway on Saturday which was caused by a man who was suspected to be drunk.

The message also claimed that many lives had been lost at the hands of drunk drivers and urged the authorities to take stern action.
