MACC arrests delivery agent over meat cartel scandal

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a delivery agent over the meat cartel scandal here.

The 55-year-old man was arrested at about 8pm on Monday (Jan 11) to assist in investigations under Section 18 of the MACC 2009 Act.

Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest but declined to comment further.

It was learned that the suspect would be brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court for a remand order application on Tuesday (Jan 12) morning.

Last Wednesday (Jan 6), the MACC had also arrested two Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) officers believed to be involved in the scandal.

The MACC had also previously arrested four other individuals, including a frozen meat importing company director in connection with the case.
