Covid-19: Sabah govt ready to help targeted groups register for vaccination

KOTA KINABALU: The state government is ready to help targeted groups register for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Sabah.

State Community Development and People’s Well-being Minister Shahelmy Yahya said this includes facilitating access to their database for those eligible, especially those in the targeted groups.

“For our ministry, our target groups include the elderly, the disabled, children and orphans, ” he said.

He said there will be cooperation with the Sabah Health Department to identify ways to register those in the targeted groups.

Shahelmy was speaking after a blood donation event at the Nurul Iman mosque in Kg Pasir Putih, Putatan, near here on Sunday (Feb 28).

Recently, federal Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun mentioned the need to include the elderly and disabled as those to be prioritised first in the second phase of the programme.

She said this is vital as these groups of people were in the high-risk category.

On this matter, Shahelmy also advised and urged Sabahans to register and get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19.

“This is not only to protect yourself but those around you, ” he said.
